Over the hills and far away

I don't use watercolour very often.
I don't dislike them, I just prefer acrylic,
but sometimes I want a background that's more muted,
so I dig them out and play.
The figure is gouache as it needed to stand out more.

  1. Do you have a hard time managing your drying time with acrylics? I do use them a lot but I go crazy trying to control the intensity! I actually prefer to use houseplants that are acrylic. I buy them in the sample size at Lowes or Home Depot. I like your painting and I like that you are not afraid to mix mediums. I do it all the time!

  2. I also prefer acrylics, mainly because they are what I have the most of. I don't have watercolors, but I have some mica based Twinkling H2Os I like to use whenever the spirit moves me.

This is a lovely painting, and the background has an ethereal feel.
