Whoops! aka AEDM day 6

Guess who forgot to post yesterday!
I put something on Instagram but forgot to put it here, oh well.

More work on the handmade book,
now I just need to decide what's going in the circle.

Winter is coming aka AEDM day 4

Today has been a day of thinking (yes, it happens occasionally)
and just doing prep works for a couple of ideas that are bubbling away on the back burner.

3rd time lucky - aka AEDM Day 3

Keeping it simple today,
just a quick sketch of Brigid's Cross.
Except geting the straw overlap correct isn't simple, or quick!
Oh well, I got there in the end (I think)

It's as interesting as watching glue dry! aka AEDM day 2

That's mostly what today has involved - sticking things together and waiting for them to dry.

Juliette aka AEDM Day 1

So November has rolled around again, which means it's AEDM again.
30 days of creating and blogging each day. What could possibly go wrong.....

Anyway, here's day 1,
an Adder (Juliette) approaching a gas giant out in the depths of the galaxy somewhere. Nothing too detailed, just getting some paint onto paper to get me started for the month.

Samhain / Hallowe'en

Light the fires, re-kindle the light
Invite the ancestors to share this night
Remove the locks, unfasten the doors
Let them come, for they are yours
Dearly beloved, living and dead
Join together, break the bread

So, last night was just one of those nights where you can't sleep.
And this is the result

Orion rising,
Resplendent in silence.
No cars
No sounds of life in the still night air
Except the distant trains,
The long slow rumble of a freighter
The staccato click-clack of the overnight express
And so it remains
Until the east brightens
And Orion fades.
And I try
Once again
To sleep

Slow but steady

Here it is, the first thing I've painted in a long time.

In a serendipitous* turn of events I received an invite to an on-line course with the wonderful Tara Leaver, just as I was wondering where to start getting back to my art. The course, entitled Touchstone, is less about how to create, and more about why, when and where - a way to overcome the inner demons, and look at the things that slow you down or stop you.

And this was the result of day one. Not worrying about what I was doing, just slap some paint on to the canvas. It's quick, simple and colourful. And Fun!

*Do you know how many goes I had at spelling that! :)

The blog is back!

Hello dear reader.
Just when you thought it was safe to venture back into blogland, I have returned!
It's only taken me the best part of a year, but I'm back and I'm creating,
and hopefully staying around this time
[where have I heard that before?]

I'm not posting anything earth-shattering today,
I thought I'd give you time to get over the shock first!

See you soon :D

Hello 2016

Well, it's a new year I guess.

The tree is down, the decorations are away, and the dining table has again succumbed to being loaded with paint, and paper and all the other bits that normally reside there.

And here's the first post for 2016, just a quick sketch to get us under way. Hopefully I'll be a bit more productive and communicative than last year!

Don't mention the hands! I haven't decided what she's going to be doing with them yet!
