And chocolate.
You can't go wrong with chocolate"

Clang!

That's the sound of a very large penny dropping!

You may remember this picture of Brigid which I recently painted for a friend.
For some time now I've been coming across references to Brigid,
in various odd places (some of them very odd) and the penny has finally dropped.
It wasn't for my friend, it was for me!
D'oh!
I guess I need to go and do some research about Her.

The strange thing is, I've felt completely listless for the last day or two (a case of the flutters),
yet now I'm raring to go and paint and create.
Pity I'm up for work tomorrow.

Anyway, here's a work in progress.
The background is acrylics and some Stewart Gill Alchemy for added shimmer.
Originally I'd added some old book page scraps, but they weren't right, so they came off again, leaving just a few little fragments.
I've no idea where this is going, I'll see what develops.

Odd Man Out

This was inspired by (of all things) Facebook - I knew it had to be useful for something!

On Friday somebody posted a quote which said
"That awkward moment when your friends make plans right in front of you,
and the plans don't include you."
It's supposed to be humorous, but in my case it's actually something which happens.*
You see, due to my interests, and the circles I move in, most of my friends are women
(how many male artists/crafters do you know?)
We'll go and see a film together or a night out at the pub,
even a weekend camping with no problems,
but a girlie day at the spa is a different matter,
and that's where two of them had been on Friday,
just before I saw the quote,
which led to this journal page.

*Before anybody starts offering tea & sympathy, it's not needed.
†If I want sympathy I'll go and see the padre.

Sunday 6 January 2013

I'm back (again)

Happy New year to one and all.
May 2013 bring you love, laughter and plenty of mojo.

The tree is down, the decorations boxed up and the dinner parties are a warm fuzzy memory.
Also, the dining table has now reverted to its more usual role of artistic workspace
(i.e. it's already covered in crap junk ephemera).

It's been a bit of a slow start, but I'm aiming to blog at least once a week (famous last words).
There has been some creativity in the last few days;
a couple of works in progress,
but for now I'm going to blog the latest page in the Turn It Up! swap journal.

The page is based on Ojos Así by the wonderfully talented Shakira.
I'd never really heard her music apart from a couple of tracks when the World Cup was going on, but came across her on Spotify. I'm not overly taken with some of her later work, but I'll admit to being hooked on her earlier stuff, she sounds better when she sings in her native tongue.
