It's the end of another AEDM and I'm finishing on a high note.
One for sorrow,
Two for joy,
Three for a girl,
Four for a boy,
Five for silver,
Six for gold,
Seven for a secret,
Never to be told.

You may have noticed, when it comes to my artwork I'm my own biggest critic, but occasionally a piece just comes together perfectly; and this is one of them. I'm really happy with this and it's in my personal top three pieces.
There are several versions of the rhyme above, depending which part of the country you're from; but the version above is probably the most well known as it was used for a children's TV show back in the seventies.
This is gorgeous and I agree that it's a real beauty. I guess I live on the wrong side of the pond, not just the country, because I've never heard that poem before. Regardless, the artwork is incredible.
ReplyDeleteI love this piece too and agree with your assessment of it. I too have never heard the little rhyme but it's very catchy. Thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteI don't know the rhyme (exept for Elvis' "One for the money, two for the show, three to get ready so go go go...~ Blue Suede Shoes ~ ) but I LOVE this piece, it is indeed gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful canvas - and this rhyme is new to me -
ReplyDeleteThank you for following my blog - I became follower here as well!

Well now...do I confess to watching Magpie...or try and convince you it was before my time?? Haha ;)
ReplyDeleteBeing hard on ourselves regarding our own work is the norm, I think...but you should be proud of this...it's fabulous!! 😊
Very nice, Nigel! I finally made it by for a visit and it was definitely worth it. :-) I love the simplicity. I really like the background and how the colors blended and came together. I agree. It is a great piece.
ReplyDeleteI like this a lot! So cheerful and elegantly simple!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your contributions to the AEDM experience--I enjoyed virtually hanging out with you!
