In case of emergency........

Some of you may remember this from a few weeks back.

Well, I decided to use the idea for a couple of birthday presents at work.
Except one of the ladies doesn't drink,
and the other is a self-confessed chocaholic!
Oh well, adapt and overcome as they say........

I hope they don't get desperate,
there's no chocolate in there!

(It was in a separate goodie bag)

Another book

Feel free to shout if you're getting bored with these.
(There is other stuff going on, but it's even more boring than the books)
I didn't even make this one, it was an ordinary notebook that somebody gave me.
With a sort of pink and brown stripey look.
Bleurgh!

It's now covered in texture paste and copper paint.
It's also in a jiffy bag, going somewhere.

So that's about it,
the highlight of my week is an altered notebook.
Living the dream or what?

I'm off to gesso a couple of canvases.
Hopefully the excitement won't be too much for me.....

In the deepwood

This is another piece inspired by something at the last gathering.
We had a discussion on faeries/the fae/little folk.
Now, I don't know what they are, but I suspect that they're not nice cutesy flower fairies.
I imagine they're more like the Sídhe/Sìth of Gaelic mythology.

One of the regular features of the old tales is mysterious lights in the forest,
accompanied by wondrous music,
and that's what I've tried to capture in this canvas.
I'm not sure if it's complete yet, I may add a little more detail.

And now I'll let you into a secret.
The real thing doesn't look like the image above,
it looks like this.
I hadn't noticed when I was taking the pictures that a faint beam of sunlight was shining across it. It only became apparent when I loaded the images onto the PC.
Or maybe it was the little folk.......

Day 25 (part II)

Well done to Freda for spotting yesterday's deliberate mistake.
(that's my story, and I'm sticking to it).

Well, here we are.
Day 25
The end.

Somehow I've managed to blog everyday,
create (nearly) every day
and get myself back on track.

So, what has the final day's creativity been?
Two hand made books.

These will be in the post later in the week
(need to add the inserts yet)
and then finish off two more.
I'm not saying who these are for,
you'll have to wait and see if one lands on your doormat.

So, what now?
Well, I'm hoping to keep the creativity going, and the blogging,
but at a slightly slower pace.
I still need to get the Reiki lessons sorted,
and there's a pile of reading to be done too.
Last but not least, I've added an "About me" page to the blog,
so I need to try and put something intelligible on that.
Feel free to ask questions/make suggestions.

Thanks for your support and your comments,
it's been an interesting few weeks.
And I get to do it all again in November (AEDM).

Day 24

The penultimate day!
Nothing too spectacular to show off today.
I added some shading to yesterday's sketch,
but it looks exactly the same when I took a picture.
Ho hum.

Then a bit of playing with pencils.
Into the deep unknown
This is kind of a place holder for a painting that's brewing in my brain.

But most of today's efforts have been spent on the latest circle journal page.
The theme of this one is Vintage Chic,
and there's some great pages full of lace and fabric.
Surprise, surprise - I struggled.
It really isn't my thing at all,
but life would be boring if their was nothing to challenge us.
In the end I managed to find some Victorian uniform design and photographs,
and made a uniform cuff from an old trouser leg and some braid.
A couple of regimental badges from my stash, and there you have it, a vintage page.
I can't blog is at it may spoil the surprise.

I wonder what tomorrow will bring?

Day 23

I had wonderfully deep and profound words to go with this.
Unfortunately, the transition between my brain and the keyboard turned them to gibberish, so I'm just going to post this and let you make up your own interpretation.

I'll maybe work on the sketch tomorrow and add some detail.
And you never know,
the words might come back.

Day 22

and we have a winner!

Well, we did at the gathering, and I was asked to make something suitable for the winner.

The contest was for the best home-made mead,
and there were 10 entries to be judged.
Thankfully I didn't get roped into the judging, as although I enjoy a drop of mead now and then, I'm not sure I'd like to drink that much of it! Not to mention the morning after....

Anyway, as mead is made from honey, what better than something with bees,
so here it is.

I wonder what I can do for next year's winner?
I mean, I don't want to get too predictable ;)

Day 21

and the end is in sight.

Nothing much to show today, it's been the basic stuff like sorting images, adding extra layers to canvases and so on. I'm looking forward to Friday as I'll have 3 clear days to sit and get lots of stuff done (famous last words).

The highlight of today was a package from Canada.
A couple of weeks ago I won a giveaway from Mel over at the drafty garrett, and today it arrived - a copy of her book, a zine, cards and other bits and pieces.
Go and take a look, she has a way with words :)

And that's about it for today,
so I'll just leave you with a random picture from a walk in the park.

Day 20

Only a short post today, as I am totally knackered after a sleepless night.

This is one of the pieces that's been inspired by the gathering.
We had a talk on Chaos Magic, and apparently it's all quite scientific, with quantum theory, Heisenberg and the duality of light. Even Schrödinger's cat made an appearance (or maybe it didn't).
There's even equations to determine whether the magic will work,
so I used a couple of them for this.

And now I'm off to bed.
Good night all.

Day 19

....and the challenge is back!

I've returned from camp, relaxed, recharged, raring to go and full of ideas.
It was great to meet up with friends (and make some new ones).
First night fire (just a small one)
Anyone for soup?

This is the current state of the creative area (aka dining table)

There's four canvases and three books on the go, hopefully they'll be finished by the end of this week, which will  be the end of the challenge, as I'm back to a five day week next week.
