AEDM2013 day 11

Or will these changing times,
motorways, powerlines,
keep us apart?
Well, I don't think so
I saw some grass growing through the pavements today.

This has been rattling around my brain for a couple of days now,
waiting to be painted.

The inspiration is the line from Jethro Tull's
"Jack-in-the-green"

The colours on the left are closer to the actual painting,
but the flash takes out some of the depth
so you get to see both images.

And a video as well!
Some days I'm just too generous!

  1. Each blade of grass whispers, "Jack-in-the-Green."
"Oh Jack, please help me through my winter's night."
Nigel, this is simply beautiful. Isn't it wonderful when an idea works its way from thought to finish? I love the inspiration line.
It also reminds me of apocalyptic movies that always seem to show how nature has grown over the man-made structures. I live in a forest and I know the power of Nature ...she always wins....no matter how many times we trim the trees and mow the meadow and weed weed weed....she is winning. But she is also helping me. I planned for moss to grow between my patio stones and she accomplished that in two seasons.
    Have a wonderful evening.

  2. I love the mix of the hard lines with the very organic grass. I was surprised by the difference in the photos of them, Was it a low light situation?
