Whatever's written in your heart

At the beginning of the year I was saddened to hear of the passing of Gerry Rafferty, a man who was vastly under-rated in the music world. Most people will remember him for the hugely popular 'Baker Street' - even if you don't know the name you'll recognise the song as soon as the sax kicks in. Baker street was played everywhere as a tribute, but the song that hit home to me was "Whatever's written in your heart".

Today was a workshop with Sarah at the Cubby Hole - Journal lettering. At one point Sarah suggested adding words inside something; a flower, a leaf, a heart, and it was another of those moments where everything suddenly slots into place - words, song & heart. This is the result.

  1. How true!
Now don't tell me again that that is not your writing!

I have always loved 'Baker Sreet', not sure I know the other one. Can't listen now as its 3.35 am and I don't want to awake the cat.
Wind instruments are so haunting especially the saxaphone. It was sad, he wrote amazing lyrics.

  8. Hi Nigel,
Yes, Junibear is correct. You have written a nice tribute for Gerry Rafferty. It also good that you wrote the words upon hearts for your journal pages. I am not familiar with Gerry's, but the song he sings here is deep.
There is a little crow in a crown, beneath your post that ironically reminds me of the post I just wrote today.

  10. Finally got to listen; I had not heard it before but would enjoy hearing it again. Your shapes really pop, they do look like they are in three-D.
