This started as a birthday card.
I had a piece of sprayed scrap paper from a workshop and it looked good, so I decided I'd repeat the process.
I created the butterfly (image by Tattered Angels), and then sprayed the card to give a nice pink & purple firework effect. Unfortunately once the inks had dried it looked more like blood spatter than fireworks, so I'll be making a replacement.
I still like it though :)
The small pics are a sneak preview of something I'm working on. The canvases are 8"x5", and the detail is from the first completed one.

Well, I've got to say, the splatter looks quite striking :P Perhaps softening it with a lighter colour would just do the fireworks trick? Love the butterfly! ;)
ReplyDeleteWell...I'm with you on this...I like it too! :) x
ReplyDeleteHi Nigel,
ReplyDeleteI like the card too.
Have a grreat week.
Maybe gory, but not too gory. It is hard to know what will happen when you start spraying. I like the one you have made and hope you will show the second one.
ReplyDeleteI like the texture you have on the first canvas. It looks like handmade paper and love the blackberry juice colours. It could be encaustic, but as your picture does not enlarge, I can't really make it out.

I like it too Nigel!
ReplyDeleteYour canvases look enticing as well!
Wishing you a happy new art week

Hi Nigel, thanks for your comment on my Japan piece, and your good wishes for my Japanese son-in-law's family. You are right, the disaster is almost beyond comprehension. We like to anthropomorphise "Mother Earth"--but we have neither control over the awesome power of the planet nor the ability to understand why these things happen. All we can do, is be there for each other!
ReplyDeleteI like your butterfly card too, but if you want to modify th color a bit, I suggest stroking some colored pencil over the paint. Maybe a light glaze of white? Which would give you a nice pinky effect. Some orange in spots over that might create the "fireworks" effect you wanted. Experiment!!
Hugs,
Diane
Love the splatter - not gory at all to me!
ReplyDeleteLookin' good Nigel!
ReplyDeleteIt's cool how inspiration comes from a scrap!!
Happy creating to you!

I love this card and I like to think that there are never any mistakes in art. Very cool effects- I would not have thought gory at all. Hope all is well Nigel!
