Wednesday is the Autumn or Vernal Equinox, also known as Mabon, Meán Fómhair or Alban Elfed. It's the time when day & night are equal, as we pass from the long days into the long nights. It is a time of balance, of taking stock and realising that for everything in life there is an opposite.

I was going to post this on Wednesday, but I'm on leave for a week and as the weather appears to have picked up I'm off to spend a couple of days in the van somewhere. Hopefully on Wednesday I'll be sat in a field, with a fire and a glass of something warming as day gives way to night.

  1. Hi Nigel

Absolutely stunning page, it really made me feel an inner calm just looking at it and reading the journaling. had to zoom in for a closer look and the textures and the aura around the flame are amazing!

Hope the weather stays kind to you and you have a relaxing and inspiring time away!

  2. Such a beautiful and inspirational page... It also reminded me of where there's light there's hope... Have a lovely time on your trip and let me know if you were able to see the Autumn's Grande Entrée on Wednesday...;-)

  3. Nigel,
Your work is thoughful, gentle, wonderful.

Thank you for sharing your kind words on my blog - I hope you didn't take offense at my 'female muse' only remark. I sometimes think I need a 'finger filter' for my typing.

    Again, your work is lovely.

  4. I wish you a peaceful Mabon.
Will you be catching a glimpse of Jupiter tonight? It will be rising with the moon.

  5. Nigel, this piece is absolutely lovely, wonderful gradations from the light of the candle to the darkness beyond the circle, and a beautiful quote. Your thoughtful post is a refreshing take on the changing of seasons, yanked me out of my "O woe is me, the cold weather's coming!!" frame of mind. your comment on my art last week made my day, I look at it from time to time when I need reassurance! Thank you!

  6. What a wonderfully peaceful page - and I love the way you've added the words. Fab! Have fun in the van, sounds very relaxing :)

  7. lovely work; I understand the daylight/night hours are the same both north and southern hemispheres too, just for the one day ;o)
