Well, Nigel, it is quite early on Suday morning and I am not fully awake; which might explain it. But although I like your piece and despite looking up your reference I must admit I don't fully understand what is going on. (I agree with Fiona that it looks like a page in your journal, but come to think of it that is where you do your challenge work most weeks.)
Please explain as I would love to know the thought processes that created this. Sorry for the ramble.
Apart from my arts and crafts, I'm also a bit of a geek at times.
"Portal" is a video game which involves the player trying to work their way out of a test area. They are encouraged by female voice which promises that there will be a cake at the end as a reward. Once you escape the test area you are met with more challenges, and on the wall is scrawled "The cake is a lie" several times over. From this point you're not after cake, you're trying to stay alive.
"Portal" was released as part of a boxed set known as "The Orange Box".
Not long after this PDC challenge was announced we were discussing a birthday at work and somebody announced that there would be cake which drew the immediate response with "the cake is a lie".
Cue a lightbulb moment and this journal page was born :)
Oh, nearly forgot - the grey cube is known as the Weighted Companion Cube which you can use to help you get to out of reach areas.
Hopefully that's helped, or have I just confused you more?
I'm glad you posted the explanation because I wasn't smart enough to figure out what was going on - I just knew I liked it! :-) Thanks for joining us at The Play Date Cafe this week!
