I'm back (again)

Happy New year to one and all.
May 2013 bring you love, laughter and plenty of mojo.

The tree is down, the decorations boxed up and the dinner parties are a warm fuzzy memory.
Also, the dining table has now reverted to its more usual role of artistic workspace
(i.e. it's already covered in crap junk ephemera).

It's been a bit of a slow start, but I'm aiming to blog at least once a week (famous last words).
There has been some creativity in the last few days;
a couple of works in progress,
but for now I'm going to blog the latest page in the Turn It Up! swap journal.

The page is based on Ojos Así by the wonderfully talented Shakira.
I'd never really heard her music apart from a couple of tracks when the World Cup was going on, but came across her on Spotify. I'm not overly taken with some of her later work, but I'll admit to being hooked on her earlier stuff, she sounds better when she sings in her native tongue.

  1. Happy New Year my friend! I enjoyed your post showing the table all set for a shared meal because that's how I've thought of you throughout the holidays ... shiny and warm and sharing with loved ones!

Love today's piece, the color and those eyes! WOW!

Didn't hurt listening to the music, either ... anything remotely rave or electronic is awesome!

  5. Oh, for the love of ephemera.... :~) I love what you have done with Shakira's eyes - I was also intrigued by the thought that artists' early work is sometimes so much more... heartful?.. not sure if that's the right word but I feel it - again, not sure if it makes intellectual sense.

Have a grand week! I am glad I came over from Creative Every Day today!

Here is my CED post for today.

  7. One can never get back to art too quickly... i think it's good to just ease into it slowly.
Ah Shakira... yes, so much talent there. Can you believe a producer once told her she would NEVER become a successful singer, because her voice was bad. Goes to show, sometimes we just have to follow our hearts, despite the naysayers...(and other times, we just have to tell the naysayers to go fuck themselves!) lol. HAPPY NEW YEAR dear Nigel... oh, and i just noticed your midwinter menu on another post. Holy crap, if i lived any closer, i definitely would have crashed your party. :-) Keep making art! xox

  8. Well Hello! I have to agree with you on Shakira Nigel. Your piece is full of intrigue.

Have tell I thought of you yesterday while out on a walk in hopes of seeing some American Eagles ... I giggled as I was taking a photo of some ice crystals on the forest floor explaining to Mr Magpie a comment you made once about not having a photo of dead leaves to share ... that really tickles my funny bone again and again (she says as she's snapping pix of dead debris)

Happy 2013 to you full of art and more oxo
