A life in 68 images

Originally "A life in 77 pictures", but I wanted to use all images and some of them looked odd in a 1"x1" square so I used some artistic licence (who said cheated?).

This is another of the 'projects' that Carol has dreamt up for us at the Cubby Hole.

Instructions:

1. Take an A3 sheet of card and divide into 1½" squares - giving 77 squares (and a bit left over).

2. Find images, items, etc that evoke a memory and will fit into a 1" square and glue one into each square marked out on the card. I used digital photos, but it could be tickets, keys, receipts - anything really.

3. Paint the card with background colour(s), working between the items. Don't worry about being neat.

4. Once that colour is dry, go over the whole thing with a very thin mix of Gesso or other light colour paint, applied with a nearly dry brush. I used Stewart Gill "White Mist" and "Seaspray". The idea is to tone down the images without hiding them completely.

5. Once that's dry you can add more colour, texture, words, etc., to fit your own design.

It's a fairly simple project to do, the hard part is getting together 77 bits and bobs.

Home again

I've been away for a few days. Nothing dramatic or full of thrills and spills, just a few days in an idyllic field next to a stream, listening to the birds and catching up on some reading and a bit of jewellery/beadwork.
The highlight was waking up early on Monday morning to see in the Solstice, and it was well worth the early rise :)

Solstice greetings

This is my entry for this week's 4x4 challenge, which Kersten has kindly chosen as the title piece (with a little bit of help from somebody else).

Monday is the Summer Solstice, and I've got a few days leave booked. I've not decided exactly what I'll be doing for the Solstice, but have the idea of heading over to Holy island /Anglesey for a few days and watching the sun rise at the Valley of the Rocks. Then again, I may end up somewhere totally different. I'll just see where the spirit takes me.

Stitchy, Waxy canvas

We had another of Sarah Anderson's workshops at the Cubby Hole today, and were introduced to the delights of playing with wax.

Exmoor & Faeries

Last weekend was spent camping at Exmoor with a group of friends. It was a wonderful weekend (as usual) and I came away relaxed and recharged, ready to face the world again. As well as socialising we also have a few workshops, which this time included making faerie doors from air-dry clay. Mine is still somewhere in the van, but I decided to use it as a starting point for the next page in my year journal.
The stamp which is partly visible is by Stampotique, and the full quote is “We are not human beings on a spiritual journey. We are spiritual beings on a human journey”, which fitted pretty well with the feel of the weekend.
Whilst there I also had a reading from a good friend, which came out very positively - even if it did leave me with some intriguing questions that I'll have to wait for answers to. We both use the Sacred Circle tarot, and the cards on here are reduced scans of the cards drawn.

Whitby

On the way back from Beltaine a few weeks back I stopped over in Whitby for a couple of nights and had a wander around the town, the Abbey and nearby Robin Hood Bay. That was nearly a month ago, but I've finally got round to finishing the page in my year journal.
