Fairy tale

This is my entry for the May swap at the Cubby Hole. The words are from a Terry Pratchett story, but originate in a traditional child's skipping song

My mother said I never should

Play with the fairies in the wood

If I did, she would say

You naughty girl to disobey

Your hair won't grow, your shoes won't shine

You naughty little girl, you shan't be mine!

  1. Really wonderful depth and shadow work in this Nigel. The art suits the rhyme perfectly - both inviting yet forboding and mysterious.
